Beneath the Surface: A Journey of Inner Becoming

Artist Statement by Abbey Simon

This series explores the quiet, potent terrain of personal transformation - the places we go within ourselves to meet the unknown. Inspired by the interplay of light and shadow, chaos and stillness, these paintings are visual meditations of the tender nonlinear path of inner becoming.

Created using a meditative, process-driven approach to acrylic on canvas, each work is rooted in both concept and felt experience. Guided by somatic intuition and emotional resonance, the painting process becomes a layered unfolding - like memory, like healing - revealing truth in texture, movement and color.

The figures, spirals, waves, and thresholds that emerge speak of cycles of dissolution and renewal, the sacred rhythm of expansion and return. While deeply personal, these pieces offer archetypal reflections that meet the viewer in their own unfolding.

This series invites the viewers to pause... to feel... to remember.

To touch something within themselves that longs not to be fixed or improved - but witnessed, felt and integrated.
